SUNRISE-6G Showcases Open and Interoperable 6G Capabilities at ETSI SNS4SNS 2026!

SUNRISE-6G had a strong and highly visible presence at ETSI SNS4SNS 2026 (Software & Standards for Smart Networks & Services), held on 2–5 February 2026 in Sophia Antipolis, France.

SNS4SNS is a flagship ETSI event bringing together open-source communities, standards bodies, research projects, and industry stakeholders to accelerate collaboration toward future, interoperable communication networks. In this context, SUNRISE-6G was positioned at the heart of discussions around open, federated, and developer-friendly 6G architectures.

SUNRISE-6G Highlights at SNS4SNS 2026

SUNRISE-6G presented three live demos that attracted strong interest from the SNS and ETSI SDG communities:

  1. Multi-Operator Edge Application Federation
A full end-to-end scenario demonstrating application deployment across two federated Open Operator Platforms (OpenOPs), using CAMARA APIs and federation mechanisms.
  2. Standardised Testbed Capability Exposure
A live walkthrough showing how OpenOP abstracts network complexity and exposes unified, reusable APIs for experimentation and service deployment in federated 5G/6G environments.
  3. Cross-Platform API Exposure & Interoperability
Demonstrating how standardised frameworks enable seamless interoperability workflows across platforms, supporting faster experimentation and smoother deployment.

Poster & Tutorial Sessions

  • A poster presentation showcasing SUNRISE-6G’s latest contributions to open network exposure, federation support, and developer-centric tooling.
  • Active participation in the ETSI OpenOP tutorial, focusing on Network Exposure Function (NEF) implementations and how open standards simplify development on next-generation networks.

Cross-SDG Lab & Joint Demonstration

A key moment of the event was the Cross-SDG Lab Demo “All SDGs in Action”, which presented ETSI’s vision for cross-community integration and experimentation.

The session brought together representatives from multiple ETSI Software Development Groups, including OpenOP, OSL, OCF, OOP, OSM, and TFS, with contributions from: ETSI, University of Patras, Intracom Telecom, Fogus Innovation & Services, EURECOM, Telefónica, and CTTC, highlighting real, ongoing cross-SDG collaboration.

Throughout the event, the SUNRISE-6G booth and sessions attracted key stakeholders from ETSI SDGs, the SNS Joint Undertaking, open-source communities, and industry, leading to fruitful technical discussions and concrete collaboration opportunities.

SUNRISE-6G’s presence at SNS4SNS 2026 confirms its role as an active contributor to the emerging open 6G ecosystem, supporting interoperability, federation, and standards-aligned innovation.
