SUNRISE-6G was significantly featured at the 16th edition of the NEM Summit 2025, held under the theme “Connected Realities: Co-Creating Europe’s Ethical, Inclusive, and Sustainable Future Media.”

The event, hosted by Fraunhofer FOKUS, gathered experts from across Europe to discuss the future of immersive media, generative AI, virtual worlds, and advanced networked technologies.

SUNRISE-6G contributed to the Summit through 2 high-impact presentations, emphasising the project’s role in shaping next-generation media connectivity and its collaboration within the SNS ecosystem.

1.White Paper Presentation on “6G for Media & Entertainment”

Led by Pierre-Yves Danet (6G-IA), this presentation introduced the upcoming White Paper on Media & Entertainment, developed collaboratively within the SNS framework. The document provides an overview of how next-generation network technologies are redefining media and entertainment experiences across Europe.

SUNRISE-6G was highlighted in the Collaborative Metaverse section, showcasing its vision to enable ubiquity and interoperability across domains, facilitating seamless, immersive user experiences across diverse environments.

2. Talk on Networked Media

Representing the SUNRISE-6G consortium, Mario Montagud from i2CAT Foundation presented ongoing work on 6G enablers for immersive media services, focusing on contributions from various SNS projects, including SUNRISE-6G.

His talk illustrated how SUNRISE-6G is advancing Network-as-a-Service (NaaS) APIs and an open federation framework that improves interoperability and high-performance connectivity across distributed testbeds. These innovations enable cross-domain and cross-country experimentation, enhancing access for remote users and supporting the creation of a pan-European 6G research infrastructure.

SUNRISE-6G’s active engagement at NEM Summit 2025 reflects its commitment to driving collaborative innovation across vertical domains, linking research, industry, and policy to shape Europe’s 6G vision for inclusive, sustainable, and connected realities. The project’s mission is to design and deploy an open, secure, and federated experimentation platform that enables the validation of key 6G technologies across verticals such as media, mobility, and industrial automation.
