SUNRISE-6G Demonstrates the Future of Pan-European 6G Experimentation at MWC 2026!

The SUNRISE-6G project successfully concluded its participation at the Mobile World Congress 2026, held in Barcelona from 2–5 March 2026, reinforcing its position as a key European initiative enabling large-scale experimentation for next-generation networks.

For the 3rd consecutive year since its launch in 2024, SUNRISE-6G actively contributed to the global connectivity ecosystem at the world’s leading telecommunications event, engaging with industry leaders, research organisations, policymakers, and innovators shaping Europe’s 6G future.

At Stand Catalonia (CS210+CS220), Booth 10, SUNRISE-6G partners presented live demonstrations highlighting how experimentation can be executed seamlessly across geographically distributed infrastructures.

A major highlight was the SUNRISE-6G Experimentation Portal, developed by eBOS, enabling researchers and innovators to:

  • Plan and execute experiments across 14 federated 6G testbeds
  • Access infrastructures through secure single-sign-on authentication
  • Schedule and coordinate experiments across Europe
  • Monitor performance through intuitive dashboards
  • Access organised datasets ready for analysis and validation

The portal represents a major step toward simplifying experimentation workflows and accelerating innovation cycles within complex 5G evolution and emerging 6G environments.

Demonstrations also showcased remote experimentation capabilities through the SUNRISE-6G ecosystem. Live experimentation illustrated how researchers can analyse local or remotely controlled radio environments from anywhere in the world, effectively shortening the path between research ideas and validated results.

Throughout the event, SUNRISE-6G welcomed visitors from the Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS-JU), project officers, national initiatives, industrial stakeholders, operators, and research institutions.

Discussions focused on:

  • The evolution toward scalable European experimentation platforms
  • AI-driven network orchestration
  • Future 6G architectures
  • Cross-border collaboration and innovation acceleration

The event confirmed the growing momentum and alignment across SNS-JU projects contributing to Europe’s digital sovereignty and technological leadership.

Participation alongside fellow SNS-JU initiatives highlighted the strength and diversity of Europe’s collaborative 6G ecosystem, demonstrating how federated infrastructures such as SUNRISE-6G will enable faster innovation, validation, and deployment of future connectivity solutions.

SUNRISE-6G continues to play a central role in shaping an open, accessible, and experimentation-driven European 6G landscape.
