SUNRISE-6G Showcases Open and Interoperable 6G Capabilities at ETSI SNS4SNS 2026!
As part of its strong presence at ETSI SNS4SNS 2026, SUNRISE-6G actively contributed to one of the event’s most strategic sessions:
Session 5: “Developer-Friendly APIs for Telco”
The session addressed a critical topic for future networks: how open, standardised, and developer-friendly APIs can transform network exposure and enable scalable innovation across the telco ecosystem.
Key Contributions
- Open Gateway: Global Simplification of Network Exposure
Henri Calvert (GSMA & CAMARA) presented the global vision for harmonised network exposure through common APIs. - OpenOP: The New ETSI SDG for an Open-Source Operator Platform
Konstantinos Ramantas (Iquadrat) outlined the motivation, scope, and evolution of OpenOP as ETSI’s open-source platform for operators, highlighting its close alignment with SUNRISE-6G objectives. - Orange Romania Network APIs Challenge
Răzvan Mihai & Cristian Patachia (Orange Romania SA) shared an operator perspective on API frameworks, best practices, real-world use cases, and emerging business opportunities.
Panel Discussion & Key Takeaways
The session concluded with a panel discussion, engaging speakers and participants in an open exchange on:
- Developer enablement and adoption barriers
- Standardisation and interoperability across platforms
- The role of open source in accelerating innovation
- Aligning research, standards, and operator needs
The discussion clearly highlighted the growing convergence between open-source platforms, ETSI standardisation efforts, and real operator deployments, a convergence that lies at the heart of the SUNRISE-6G vision.
Through its contributions to this session, SUNRISE-6G reaffirmed its role in shaping practical, standards-aligned approaches to network exposure and API-driven 6G systems.
