SUNRISE-6G at the 6G-IA Scientific & Technical Board Meetings in Madrid!

The SUNRISE-6G project participated in the 6G-IA Scientific and Technical Board (SB & TB) meetings held last week in Madrid, Spain, where European 6G stakeholders gathered to align research priorities, share achievements, and define next steps toward a connected, intelligent future.

SUNRISE-6G presented its work on the ETSI SDG Open Operator Platform (OpenOP). An ETSI initiative enabling open, collaborative, and standards-compliant experimentation for the Telco Cloud.

Through collaboration with industry players, open-source communities, and standardisation organisations such as GSMA, CAMARA, and 3GPP, OpenOP bridges research and practical deployment, fostering innovation and interoperability across the telecom ecosystem.

SUNRISE-6G, together with other SNS JU projects including 6G-DALI, 6G-INTENSE, FLECON-6G, and ADROIT6G, showcases the power of federated testbeds and open platforms to accelerate next-generation telecom research.

OpenOP and these projects, conceived by the R&D community and balanced between industry and academia, aim to deliver impactful innovations for developers, practitioners, and researchers.

A highlight of the Technical Board meeting was the announcement that the ETSI OpenOP has been evaluated and selected among the Top 10 Key Achievements (KAs) of the SNS JU for 2025, recognising its significant contribution to advancing openness and collaboration in Europe’s 6G ecosystem.
