Shaping the Future of 6G: Talk at UPC, Barcelona
On February 14, 2025, Adrian Pino-Martinez from i2CAT captivated an audience of students and researchers at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) in Barcelona with an insightful presentation on the SUNRISE-6G project.
The talk, titled “Shaping the Future of 6G Through Federated Systems,” highlighted the project’s vision for advancing next-generation communication technologies and its innovative work on federated systems, showcasing how these innovations are paving the way for a smarter, more connected future.
Abstract: As the sixth generation of communication networks takes shape, federation emerges as a foundational principle for enabling seamless collaboration across systems, infrastructures, and domains. This interconnected approach is key to supporting large-scale experimentation and the deployment of advanced vertical applications that leverage 6G capabilities.
Federation in 6G is not just about connecting testbeds; it’s about building a unified platform for innovation. This platform enables access to a wide range of tools, such as AI-driven automation, intelligent resource management, and cutting-edge 6G enablers, while maintaining compliance with evolving standards. Through a shared and scalable experimentation framework, federation facilitates the convergence of diverse technologies and ensures the collaborative growth of a robust, next-generation ecosystem.
This engaging session was attended by students and researchers eager to explore the latest developments in 6G research. By inspiring the next generation of engineers, this initiative strengthens SUNRISE-6G’s commitment to knowledge sharing and academic collaboration!
