Inspiring the Next Generation: ISI/ATH Engages Students from Corinth Middle School in 6G and AI!
The SMARTECH research team at the Industrial Systems Institute/Athena Research Centre (ISI/ATH) recently hosted a group of students from Corinth Middle School at its research facilities, offering them a unique opportunity to explore cutting-edge technologies.
During the visit, students participated in a series of interactive activities designed to introduce them to key concepts related to 6G networks and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Through hands-on demonstrations and engaging discussions, the ISI/ATH research team showcased how these technologies are shaping the future of connectivity, automation, and digital services.
The session also highlighted the role of European research and innovation projects in advancing next-generation technologies. Students were introduced to a portfolio of ongoing initiatives, including FLECON-6G, ADROIT6G, 6G-INTENSE, SUNRISE-6G, 6G-DALI, and 6G-BRICKS, gaining insight into how collaborative efforts across academia and industry contribute to building the foundations of future 6G ecosystems.
The students’ enthusiasm, curiosity, and active participation clearly demonstrated the importance of such outreach activities in bridging the gap between research and society. Encouraging young people to explore science and technology from an early stage is essential for fostering the next generation of engineers, researchers, and innovators.
These initiatives reflect a shared commitment across the 6G research community to promote STEM education, raise awareness of emerging technologies, and inspire future talent. By bringing advanced research closer to society, these projects contribute not only to technological progress but also to building a more informed and innovation-driven future.
